Webmail Help
Webmail is available for accounts with the domain suffixes listed below. Webmail is a web interface for sending and receiving (checking) your electronic mail. While not as full featured and powerful as standalone mail clients, it is ultimately portable (like my Portable Thunderbird project) and does the job.
- @weavervsworld.com (@wvsw.com is an alias to @weavervsworld.com)
Pre-Login
To login, click either HTTPS Login or HTTP Login on the Webmail sidebar. HTTPS Login utilizes SSL/TLS for encrypting the application layer HTTP traffic, thus making it harder for crackers between your browser and this Internet server to view the information being sent back and forth. HTTP Login is simple plaintext HTTP. If at all possible, please use the HTTPS Login. If you choose to use the HTTPS Login, the following points are applicable:
- After selecting the HTTPS Login, your browser will more than likely prompt you saying the security certificate was signed by an unkown Certificate Authority (CA). As of this writing (2005.10.01) the certificate is self-signed by curd.lolerskates.com. In order to proceed, you must accept the certificate (either temporarily or permanently).
- Any good browser should also prompt you saying that you are connecting to weavervsworld.com but the certificate is for curd.lolerskates.com (at the time of this writing). In this particular case this is fine, continue on. If you would like more in depth analysis as to why I am fine with this I shall answer gladly.
After selecting one of the login methods (HTTPS/HTTP), the login page will appear. Enter in your full email address for the name, and your password for the password. If you have forgotten your password, please contact me for a reset.
Example:
- If your electronic mail address was creamycenter@weavervsworld.com (take that spambots) and your password was p4r7i411yhydr0g3n473ds0yb34n0i1
- You would enter creamycenter@weavervsworld.com for the name and p4r7i411yhydr0g3n473ds0yb34n0i1 for the password, then commend yourself for being so witty.
Post-Login
After logging in, you will be presented with a few choices of webmail interfaces, along with overall administrative options for your electronic mail account. The three choices as of this writing are Neomail, Horde, and Squirrelmail. I highly recommend using HORDE, but use whatever you wish. The last step is learning the nuances of the particular web interface you have chosen. I can only say good luck.
